Cuong leads our technical team, leveraging over 10 years of expertise in deep learning and generative probabilistic modeling. Prior to his role at Epsilico, he was the lead data scientist at Statice and contributed as a researcher at renowned institutions such as FU Berlin, UCD Dublin, IBM Zurich Labs, and Fraunhofer FIT.
Outside of the professional realm, Cuong finds joy in leisurely walks with his dog and is an avid football enthusiast, never missing a match on Saturdays.
Christian oversees strategic and operational matters at Epsilico. Before joining the company, he worked at McKinsey & Company, focusing on digital transformations and analytics in pharma and other industries. Christian holds degrees from Tsinghua University in China and RWTH Aachen University in Germany.
During his leisure time, Christian delights in exploring the diverse Asian food offerings in Berlin's restaurants.
Nikolay leads our Biology team. He has over 12 years of experience in protein biochemistry, structural biology and biophysical characterisation. Before his role at Epsilico, Nikolay conducted his post-doc at EMBL Hamburg, held the position of Scientific officer at EMBL Heidelberg and obtained his PhD in Biochemistry from Heidelberg University. Nikolay is passionate about protein biochemistry, lab automation and machine learning and works on the intersection of these three fields in his current role.
Outside of the professional realm, Nikolay enjoys spending time with his family, reading books, listening to podcasts, and driving his Model Y.
Roman came to Epsilico from MorphoSys, where he helped advance two complex preclinical programs, serving as the primary point of contact for structural biology inquiries and leading computational antibody engineering efforts. Roman holds a Ph.D. in biophysics from Humboldt Universität zu Berlin and completed a postdoctoral position in Stockholm, specializing in the study of structure-function relationships within pharmaceutically relevant membrane proteins.
In his leisure time, he enjoys reading, climbing and race biking.
Paulina joined our team as a Founder’s Associate excited to help grow Epsilico from its early stages. Prior to this, she completed her Masters studies in Biology at the University of Oxford. After taking a liking for immunology she ventured to Berlin to do research at the Max Planck Institute for Infection Biology.
In her free time, Paulina enjoys spending time with her cats, doing yoga, baking and creative writing.
Ciaran is a Machine Learning Engineer who has been turning coffee into code with Epsilico since September 2022. Previously, he studied Electronic & Computer Engineering at Trinity College Dublin, focusing on image and video processing techniques. After completing his Masters, he worked as a video engineering research assistant at Trinity, Intel and JP Morgan before making the big move to Berlin to delve into the world of proteins with Epsilico.
Nicolo is a researcher specializing in probabilistic machine learning, statistical inference, and graph modeling. Prior to joining Epsilico, he obtained a joint Ph.D. from ETH Zürich and Max Planck Institute for Intelligent Systems.
In his free time, Nicolo leads expeditions to discover hidden culinary gems in the city and attempts to recruit unsuspecting colleagues for impromptu sports escapades in exotic destinations.
Dan has a Masters in Bioengineering from the University of Cambridge and several years of experience as a research engineer at the likes of ARM and Audio Analytic. He is particularly interested in geometric deep learning and how it can be applied to problems in structural biology.
When not trying to fix bugs in the latest model, Dan can either be found at the nearest dance school or playing chess.
Aparna is a biochemist and works as a scientist at Epsilico. She is part of the bio team in Göttingen and is involved in establishing in vitro assessment workflows for screening drug candidates. Prior to Epsilico, she completed her PhD studies in structural biology at the University of Würzburg.
In her leisure time, Aparna enjoys taking long walks in nature and learning hatha yoga.
Lareen joined Epsilico after a postdoctoral position at the Max Planck Institute for Biophysical Chemistry, where she also earned her PhD in Molecular Biology/Biochemistry. With her background in biomedicine and expertise in small protein design, she develops workflows for screening and evaluating potential drug candidates as part of the bio team.
In her free time, she enjoys mountaineering, climbing, and running, as well as immersing herself in literature.
Robert is a self-taught engineer who creates custom solutions for the Biology team to automate the laboratory workflow. His background is in Molecular Biology and Biotechnology, having finished his Bachelor's and Master's degree at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn in 2023.
In his free time he practices partner acrobatics with his friends and is a great fan of board games like Azul, Dominion and Wizard.
Julia joined the team as a Protein Biology Intern, working in the bio team in Göttingen. She obtained her Masters degree in molecular biology from the University of Zagreb and, through her studies, developed an interest in protein biochemistry.
Outside the lab, Julia enjoys reading, hiking, and visiting art museums.
Ayushi is a Global MBA student and Biotechnology Master's graduate, currently balancing academia and professional growth as a working student in office management at Epsilico. She is passionate about merging business acumen with a scientific background for innovative solutions.
In her leisure, Ayushi likes to immerse herself in the world of fiction through books and craft culinary delights.
Yastika is a working student in Epsilico's Biology team where she assists them with their wet lab projects. She has completed her Bachelors in Molecular and Cellular Biology from University College Dublin and is currently pursuing her Masters in Molecular Medicine at the University Medical Centre in Göttingen.
Outside of her studies Yastika is an avid reader, hiker and café aficionado.
